The Not So Wonderful Wildlife....

So.....I threw Big Brother in the tub tonight to wash off a day's amount of dirt and sweat, and what was this on his back....ew...a spider! I'll just pour some water on it and it will wash off then I can kill it. Wait a minute...it's not coming off....it's stuck? Oh crap....It's a TICK!

Why these things happen when Daddy is gone I'll never know.
So...leave it to the Mama to handle it

I remember my Mama saying to light a match, blow it out, then put the hot match on the nasty little things butt....no good, he continued to enjoy the sweet meat of my son, ok....time to call Daddy.

Daddy..." Did you look up online what to do?" Of course not! Why would I do the easiest thing?
So off to the computer I go.....Pull it out carefully....great....

After removal place tick in freezer...are they crazy!...What, are we going to have a cookout? Wheres the sauce!

Ok, so I carefully removed it, put it in a bag and into the freezer it went, and now Big Brother wants to keep it as a pet. Hmmmmm......Don't think so!

Nasty little things, but....I guess it's better than getting bit by something more dangerous!

Brothers...

The boys have been their usual little selves today, and I've enjoyed hearing Big Brother and Little One play together in their bedroom. I had no idea a 4 year old and a 10 month old could have so much in common! But from their room I hear lots of giggles and laughing, like they are sharing secrets they I am not to know about. But then...Big Bothers new best friend, our 80 year old landlord has arrived to work in the shop, and off he runs to do who know what with this man that has become a sort of built in Great Grandpa. He calls Big Brother "The Boy" which is very funny because that is what daddy calls him.

There are days when I don't see Big Brother for an hour at a time because he off "working" in the shop, or going for a ride on the 4-wheeler.

Little one soon notices that Big Brother is gone and goes looking for him. He crawls into the bedroom and living room looking for his best Friend and playmate, only to return to me whining because he can't find him. What to do now? The toys just don't seem as fun as they were when Big Brother was playing with them.

But before he can get to concerned, the screen door slams shut and Big Brother has returned with a smile and some more energy to play with Little One.

Soon they both will be running outside to play and get dirty and come back with bruised knees and lots of stories. But until then, I think I will enjoy those sweet moments of giggles behind closed doors, and the neediness of a "little one", when "big brother" has gone outside to play.

Yummy Homemade Raspberry Popsicles

Is it possible for those of us that don't like berries to enjoy berries? Yes it is!! I made these yummy Popsicles from the fresh picked raspberries out of our garden. My raspberries were frozen from the day before, but you can use non-frozen ones as well. Nothing taste better on a hot day than a cool treat. Make yourself some and enjoy!

1. Put 4 cups of raspberries into your blender...

2. Add 2 tsp. of Lemon Juice

3. Add 4 Tbs. of Sugar

4. Blend together until smooth...

If your raspberries are to thick, add some water...I added about 8 Tbs...

5. Pour into gallon size ziplock bag...

6. Cut corner of bag and fill your Popsicle container of choice...

7. Place in freezer until frozen, then eat and enjoy!

Just a regular Wednesday...

I spent the day today playing with my camera. So many settings that I have know idea how to use! I photographed the Great Horned Owl in my backyard, and the birds that built a nest in our front yard. Then there was the ladybug on the daisy...

The boys were good and enjoyed playing outside in the sun. Big Brother had fun playing in the pool. Little one has decided to try standing up more and more! I don't think it will be long before he is standing up all the time!

The garden is coming up nicely, with the corn and beans leading the way. We got it started a little late, but I think we will still be able to enjoy all that we planted before the 1st frost comes.

Today was a lazy day, full of book reading on the back porch while the boys napped, and listening to the breeze blow and the birds chirp.

Nothing to exciting, but that's a good thing!
